Infant Aquatics®

Survival Swimming Lessons

With a Certified Infant Aquatics® Instructor

REGISTRATION IS OPEN

  • Opens July 22 at 10 am for current & previously enrolled families
  • Opens July 23 at 10 am for new families

Class Details

  • Age: 6 months to 6 years old
  • Class length: 10-minute lessons, 4x a week – typically 6-8 weeks to complete the initial intensive and attain survival skills
  • Class ratio: 1-on-1
  • Is this the same as ISR? Yes. Infant Aquatics® is an almost identical program and certification process to ISR and gets the same results – self-rescue skills gained in just 6-8 weeks for most kids as young as 6 months old

Who is this class for?

Recommended for families with children 6 months old to 6 years old who CANNOT roll to float independently yet and want the quickest route to self-rescue skills.

*If your child is an independent swimmer, you can sign up for our regular classes, Level 2+.

For best results, we do highly recommend that kids start Infant Aquatics with a least a small bit of prior water exposure such as time in the pool with family and/or a Parent & Me class and then move to Infant Aquatics for quick skill acquisition. Need help figuring out if a Parent & Me class or Infant Aquatics class is a better fit for your family? Check out this post comparing the two.

What are lessons like?

Each lesson is 1-on-1 with your child and the instructor. Lessons are 10 minutes long. During the initial intensive program, lessons will take place Mon-Thurs for approximately 6 weeks, until the child can perform all the skills by themselves (could take up to 8 weeks). This initial intensive period with motor skills practiced on a daily basis is needed in order for children to gain independence.

Your child will be gently introduced to the water by their instructor. The instructor will work with him/her to guide them through the lesson process and build a level of trust and comfort in the water and then quickly work to attain self-rescue skills. For younger children (18 months and younger), we will teach your child to roll to their back to float. For those that are older than 18 months, we will teach your child to swim with their face in the water, roll to their back, and then swim to the side of the pool. Infants and young children are transformed from being totally helpless in the water into confident, capable swimmers in just a matter of weeks!

Weekly Infant Aquatics® Maintenance classes are available and encouraged after successful completion of the 6-8 week course to ensure kids don’t loose the life-saving skills they just acquired.

Meet Mrs. Lynsey

Lynsey has a love for all things athletic. She coaches volleyball and has been a swim instructor for more than a year. Last year she ran in an ultramarathon and wonders if a triathlon may be in her future.

Lynsey has three daughters (9, 6 and 3) that keep her and her husband, JD, on their toes. She loves the growth process that happens in community, whether that’s on a court, in a pool, or on the journey of life.
